Dear friends and family, 

I am back riding with the amazing folks at Team Samaritan House this summer for what will surely be an inspirational seven-day cycling adventure through the Rockies. In a few weeks, I will embark on an incredible seven-day cycling trip through the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains with Team Samaritan House. We will begin Alamosa on June 10 and will conclude in Salida on June 17, riding 447 miles and gain 32,337 ft in elevation. The race will be demanding and–undoubtedly–there will be some sore muscles, sweat, dirt and happy tears.

Every penny of the funds we raise will go directly to benefit Denver Catholic Charities' four homeless shelters in Colorado.

I cannot even begin to tell you about the amazing and much needed work that goes on at these shelters, whose ultimate goal is to help individuals become self-reliant by providing truly individualized assistance. The success rates are extremely high and the work is a real and tangible reflection of faith, care and service to our brothers and sisters who live in poverty and homelessness.

As a team we often ride north of Confluence Park along the South Platte River Trail and into and beyond Commerce City. The "tent cities" are more prevalent now, and there are many individuals living here by the river trying to get by. Some have jobs and are trying to get back on their feet. For some, rising rental prices keep them in an inconsistent cycle of homelessness.

As you know, there are so many faces of homelessness in our city, from veterans and the those who struggle with mental health issues, to those who struggle with abuse, violence, and addiction. The Samaritan House is the most beautiful, loving, compassionate yet tough, and successful organization I have ever witnessed with regards to truly helping those among us who need it the most.
