Dear Friends and Family, 

On June 10, I will embark on an incredible seven-day cycling trip through the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains. While I've ridden Ride the Rockies in the past, this year I am part of a team that is raising money for Denver metro's homeless. We are Team Samaritan House!

Funds raised will benefit Catholic Charities’ four homeless shelters, including Samaritan House in Denver. These shelters provide overnight stay and long-term residence with intensive case management. The ultimate goal of all Catholic Charities’ shelters is to help residents become self-reliant by providing needed individualized assistance.

Ride the Rockies will begin in Alamosa on June 10 and will conclude in Salida on June 17, riding 447 miles. The ride will be demanding and–undoubtedly–there will be some sore muscles, sweat, dirt and, hopefully, very few tears and broken bones or other injuries. My motivation for this ride is, and will, be knowing the difference it will make. Each dollar we raise truly changes the lives of the individuals and families who call these shelters home.  
Your support will go a long way as each meal provided at Samaritan house costs about $1.60, meaning a $100 donation buys 62 meals!

Last year, nearly 1.25 million nights of shelter were provided and approximately 754,575 meals were served at these shelters.  TSH has in the six years since riders began riding raised about $350,000 and our goal for this year is $150,000 which is nearly half Samaritan House's kitchen's annual budget.  I am truly looking forward to doing my part to make a difference for those helped.

I like to say "There but for the grace of God go I," homelessness could happen to any one of us!
