Tim and I are both participating in our first Ride the Rockies tour. This year's route promises a beautiful and challenging week in southwest Colorado. It begins June 10th in Alamosa and finishes June 17th in Salida, covering 447 miles with a total elevation gain of 32,337 feet!
Since his early childhood, Tim and I have enjoyed doing things together. When Tim took up road bicycling five years ago he encouraged me to do the same as a way to stay fit and to have something we could keep doing for years to come. Since then we have completed several century rides, Ragbrai, Tour of the Moon and Pedal the Plains. Since we are Coloradoans we knew we had to do Ride the Rockies.
We both have a heart for the poor and those experiencing homelessness. I was fortunate to have been the director for Catholic Charities Mission shelter in Ft. Collins the past three years. That experience provided me with an appreciation of how much good just a little help can do in the lives of those individuals and families who are struggling to live independently. With your help we are riding to provide needed funding to help operate the Mission shelter and the programs it offers to those who are working to get their lives back on track.
