Q: How do I participate as part of Team RMHC Kansas City?
A: Registration for the 2020 KC Marathon is now open. Please register on this site first and you’ll be provided with a code to register for the marathon or a related event. Each race distance has a fundraising goal depending on which race you sign up for. Register for the KC marathon or another distance here.
Q: What is the fundraising requirement?
A: Full Marathon - $1,000 commitment, Half Marathon - $750 commitment, 10k - $500 commitment, 5k – $250 dollar commitment.
Q: Who pays the Marathon entry fee?
A: We provide you with a code and ultimately cover the cost for anyone using the code. Please don’t share the code with other runners as it’s only provided to those who agree to fundraise.
Q: What is the deadline for my minimum fundraising commitment?
A: October 1st. Although you can register online for the marathon until October 16th. Please contact Mackenzie at mlutz@rmhckc.org if you’d like to participate on team RMHC Kansas City after October 1st.
Q: Where do I send checks or offline donations?
A: While we encourage online donations whenever possible, we realize some people still prefer to send in check donations. Please request that any checks be made payable to ‘Ronald McDonald House Charities of KC’ – Include the offline donation document (found under the Resources tab) with your check OR make sure your name is clear on the memo line.
Next, mail the checks to:
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City
Attn: Mackenzie Lutz or Team RMHC-KC
2502 Cherry St. Kansas City, MO 64108
Once received, accounting will “verify” the gift and it will appear on your fundraising page.
Q: I am injured or can no longer ‘run’- do I still need to raise money?
A: We really hope this doesn’t happen, but in the event you are unable to run the KC Marathon or related event, the charity will still have to pay your entry fee (we actually will pay for anyone who uses our registration code at check out) and encourage you to let us know as soon as possible to help keep our costs low. We’d encourage you to keep fundraising even if you can’t race at the event.
Q: If I don’t meet my minimum fundraising commitment, what happens?
A: We are requiring that fundraising minimums are met by October 1st. If you haven’t met your minimum goal, we will be contacting you about how you’d like to cover the difference between what you have raised and your fundraising minimum or you’ll have to lower your race distance.
Please note, this is not a means of ‘punishing’ anyone, but rather a way to help keep the event costs low for the charity and help us plan as best as possible to make the most impact for the families we are helping.
Q: What is the link to the Team RMHC Facebook page?
A: There is a private page for Team RMHC runners to connect, share inspiring stories, tips, and motivate one another. Join us!
Q: Who do I contact if I know someone who would like to volunteer Marathon weekend?
A: Please email Mackenzie at mlutz@rmhckc.org with name and email for anyone that wishes to volunteer.
