For the past seven years, I've had the honor of serving as Executive Director of Reach Out Honduras, partnering with our incredible team to expand access to education for students in one of the most underserved regions of Honduras.
In La Moskitia, fewer than 10% of low-income youth graduate from high school. Yet every school day, many students overcome incredible obstacles simply for the opportunity to learn. Some walk nearly 4 miles round trip just to get to class.
This June, I had the opportunity to visit one of our students, Alner, and his family. Seeing firsthand the journey he makes each day to attend school was a powerful reminder of the determination and resilience our students demonstrate every day.
That's why we're launching Step Up for Students this fall - a new team-based walkathon raising funds for the essential daily operations of Abundant Life Institute so students can continue receiving the education and support they need to thrive.
This year's walkathon highlights the journey many of our students take every day... because they believe education can change their future. If you're up for the challenge, join me on the Casa Sola Route and walk in honor of students like Alner.
Every gift helps provide quality education, daily meals, transportation, counseling, and holistic care so students can stay in school, dream big, and build brighter futures.
