Get ready to rev up the bed wheels because Flourish’s second-annual Running of the Beds race will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, April 26, at the Summit Church in Lee’s Summit, Mo. Flourish is Kansas City’s only nonprofit furniture bank.
Teams of 5 will build beds on wheels in the weeks before the event, then race them on an exciting racecourse for fun prizes.
Bed race teams will build their bed-on-wheels before the event. Teams are encouraged to get creative with their bed design and decoration.
Fun activities for the whole family will include furniture themed games like pillow fights and mattress toss contests and a kid’s parade of decorated bikes, wagons and more. The event will also include Flourish’s social service agency partners that will provide information and resources to the community. The event is free to attend.
Kids are encouraged to bring their own “wheels” to the event – bikes, scooters, wagons, strollers – to decorate on-site, during the event.
