Hi, I’m Jennifer and in 2021 I was diagnosed with CRPS.
Complex Regional Pain Syndrom (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition that comes with: skin sensitivity, hot and cold temperature changes, color changes, pins and needles, numbness, 1000 knife stabbing you, shooting pains, dull pains, muscle weakness, muscle fatigue, muscle depletion, swelling, and more. The slightest breeze can set off a flare up that can not be controlled. There is no cure, only treatments to help manage the pain.
Not a lot is really known about it, and most have no clue what CRPS is. Luckily in today’s world we have better technology and resources available hopefully, one day leading to a cure!
In 2022, I took a chance on a surgery to help manage my chronic pain. I now have a DRG Spinal Stimulator that takes away about 90% of my pain. I am very greatful and fortunate I found an amazing doctor who is very knowledgeable in chronic pain and this treatment.
Today, I have found my way back to my old self with a few exceptions. I may not be in pain 24/7 but I still do get pain, along with color changes, numbness, temperture sensitivity and even skin sensitivity throughout the day. Unfortunately there is no treatment for this, you just have to learn how to adapt.
My goal is to raise awearness and educate those who do not know about CRPS and showing them that we are humans too! Aswell as showing there is hope out there and we can't stop, no matter how painful It gets. All donations go to sending children with CRPS to summer camp, young adult weekends, clinical trials for better treatments, and for research and supporting the community.
P.S. just because we don’t always look sick, does not mean that we aren’t :)
