I am riding this event for the following reason outlined below:

1.  I first moved to Denver from Colorado Springs in the fall of 1988. That winter I attended the international sportsman show (hunting and fishing expo)  downtown at the convention center during the second week in January. That particular night it was about five degrees below zero when I came out of the show with my friends at closing time  8:00PM. I stood in line with several people to board the light rail at the station across the street bound for a nice warm home. There was a homeless man laying on the top of a steam manhole cover with a blanket. He did not move nor show any signs of life. Everyone boarding the train had to notice this as he was laying on the sidewalk in front of the station boarding area. No one did anything (myself included) even to ask if he was alright or how to help. The scene has played out in my mind several times since. This was my first encounter of  such an event in a big city downtown area (no excuse).  I know full well that the individual that night was my savior Jesus Christ in human form and I like many others disregarded and left in a selfish abandonded way. I also know full wel,l that with the many blessings that I had been gifted with, I had the means to help with food, a motel room for the night or even the entire winter and did nothing. Today our team was given a tour of the Samaritan House homeless shelter founded by Father Woody in 1986.  In a town of two million people, it took a Catholic priest from Holy Ghost downtown parish to stand alone, act on the gospel, and say enough. I am riding to honor him, his unselfish work, and support the work before us. I have asked Dan Muldoon, Marlene Muldoon and Sam Ogden to ride with me in support of this cause.
