That's what we're doing here.
On july 5th, I'm taking on ironman 70.3 muskoka. a 1.9km swim, 90km bike, and 21.1km run. All in full scrubs, start to finish. Same idea as last year's Marathon in scrubs, just a little harder.
All for the FIGS Awesome Humans Foundation: the first nonprofit built entirely around supporting healthcare workers. Not just celebrating them, actually supporting them. Emergency relief grants for hcps facing unexpected hardship. Scholarships for the next generation of healthcare students. Funding for programs and people who are quietly making the system better for everyone inside it.
This cause became personal to me when my mom went through brain tumor surgery last year. I watched what the people around her did. Not just clinically, but humanly. And it stayed with me. Who takes care of the people who spend their whole lives taking care of everyone else?
This foundation exists to answer that question.
We're already on our way there, but if everyone reading this gives just a little, we blow past this $10,000 goal and actually change something for someone who deserves it.
