Hi! My name is Daniel. I’m an 8th grader at Veritas, and I’ve been here for five years now. Since I’m graduating soon, I’ve been thinking a lot about what makes Veritas different. It’s a place where I’ve always felt known and supported, but also one where I’ve been pushed to work hard in my classes and really grow in my faith.
A big part of why I love it here is the people. You aren't just a random student at Veritas. My homeroom teacher this year is Mr. Dancer (we just call him Dander). He’s had a really big impact on me because he cares about my character and how I'm doing, not just my grades. Having teachers who support you like that makes it a lot easier to be yourself and ask for help when things get tough. The teachers actually care about who you are as a person.
Some of my best memories are the ones outside the classroom, like our yearly middle school retreats to Camp Hume. Playing 9 Square for hours and just bonding with my class are things I’m never going to forget. We’ve become a really tight community and that’s definitely something I’m going to miss the most when I leave next year.
Right now is a pretty big time for the school because we’re working on the new property and building a Makerspace Lab there. I think it’s cool that the younger kids are going to have a place to build things and be creative. Even though I’ll be gone, I want to help make sure that project gets finished. By donating to this fundraiser, you’re helping us get the new property ready and buying the tools we need for the lab.
