What is the Indiana Invasives Initiative?

The Indiana Invasives Initiative (III) is a statewide project of the State of Indiana Cooperative Invasives Management (SICIM). The III empowers citizens to address the negative impacts of invasive species. We work with people in every county to build long-term partnerships that address invasive species. Through the III we build county level Cooperative Invasive Species Management (CISMAs) groups, train, conduct landowner surveys and host Weed Wrangles across the state.

SICIM is the non-profit organization that runs the III. Their mission: Protect, restore, and enhance Indiana's landscapes by coordinating efforts to identify, prevent, and control invasive species.

What is a Weed Wrangle?

Weed Wrangles® are events hosted nationwide to control invasive plants that are negatively impacting our parks and natural areas. We teach how to identify and control invasives during these events while we work together to improve habitat in our parks where we live, work, and play.

What is Runnin' and Wranglin'?

Runnin' & Wranglin' is a fundraiser that supports people partnering statewide for healthy soil, water, and wildlife. Teams raise money to support the Indiana Invasives Initiative, a statewide project that works in every county. These funds train citizens and professionals, build CISMAs, and host Weed Wrangles so invasive species impacts are addressed.

Join us as we celebrate progress (41 CISMAs, 40,000 acres in the program and over 400 wrangles completed) and work to increase habitat by managing invasive species where you live, work, and play.

Gather and register your team (there will be team prizes, youth events and fun challenges along the race route).
