Hi friends,

A few days each week, I spend my time volunteering at Flourish Furniture Bank, and it’s become a place that genuinely means a lot to me.

Flourish works alongside social service agencies to help families transitioning out of housing instability turn empty spaces into real homes. They collect donated furniture and home essentials, repair what they can, and provide entire households with what they need to start over. It’s not just about furniture, it’s about dignity, stability, and a fresh start.

I volunteer in the woodworking department, and since our entire operation from donation, to restoring, to families in our showroom, I get to literally see the impact firsthand. Every table we fix, every bed we restore… it goes to someone who truly needs it. It’s one of those places where compassion and sustainability come together in a really tangible way.

This Saturday, May 2nd from 11am–2pm, I’ll be participating in the annual Running of the Beds fundraiser. My team (Thank You- Jay, Lisa, Ron, Heather, and I) will be dressed as counting sheep while we race our bed across the finish line, because why not make it fun too?

Each team is aiming to raise $1,500, but honestly, any amount makes a difference.

If donating money isn’t doable right now, there’s another way to help, especially with spring cleaning underway. Flourish accepts a wide range of home essentials, from furniture (even mattresses) to smaller household items. And if something can’t be used, they work hard to make sure it still finds a home. Very little goes to waste. We don't say garbage at Flourish:))
