As many of you know, I am an ICU nurse to my very core. However, the past couple of years has lead me to step back and look at the care I was providing. As an ICU RN, you are a reactive agent to the disease process already occurring. I wanted more. I wanted to be on the preventative side of the bed. And maybe get away from 12 hour shifts... A few months ago, I jumped on the opportunity to join the Cancer Care team, as the Thoracic Nurse Navigator. My role is to assist patients through lung cancer screening, along with patients that have an abnormal chest imaging requiring more testing. I have learned so much in my new role. I want to use this opportunity to not only help support a great cause, but bring forth more awareness and education for our community regarding Lung Cancer.
