About Maeghan
Maeghan Maloney has served as the District Attorney of Kennebec and Somerset counties since 2013.
As a child, Maeghan lived in the Tall Pines Low Income Housing Project in Lewiston, Maine, until her family moved to Turner. She graduated from Leavitt High School in 1989. Maegahn earned a bachelor's degree in political science and government from Swarthmore College and a Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School.
After graduation, she worked as a prosecutor in Portland, Oregon, starting in the trial unit until she was promoted to run the forfeiture unit. Maeghan spent a year in Asia working to stop domestic violence on a Luce Fellowship before returning home to Maine.
Before being elected to serve as District Atorney, Maeghan worked as an Assistant Attorney General and served District 81 in the Maine House of Representatives.
Maeghan lives in Augusta with her husband, Christopher. She has served on the board of the Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center since 2014. She also sits on the boards of the Family Violence Project, the Alfond Youth and Community Center, and Spirit of America.
