Our Honorees

Franklin P. Lambert will receive the 2022 Storyteller Award. Since 2011, Frank has shared stories of dedication and service to our country with VHP students, helping to develop the character of youth through his life lessons.  After Frank graduated from West Point in 1964, he attended Airborne and Ranger Training and Jungle Survival School until assigned Company Commander of Co. D, 5/7, 1st Cavalry Division in Vietnam, where he earned the Silver Star, the Soldier’s Medal, 3 Bronze Stars w/V and two Purple Hearts. His story is shared in Since You Asked VII

Frank Lambert shares a special bond with our Special Guest,  LTC. (Ret.) James “Mike” Sprayberry.  As the Executive Officer of Company D, Mike volunteered to lead a night mission, which resulted in saving the life of Frank and a great number of men who were wounded and surrounded by the enemy.  The mission took 7 ½ hours. For his bravery and action beyond the call of duty, Mike received our nation’s highest military decoration, the Medal of Honor.

Thanks to the sponsorship of the Reifschneider Family Philanthropy Fund, VHP is excited to recognize an outstanding alumnus or alumna’s leadership, character, and continued passion for service with our 2nd Annual Alumni Service Award.

Inspired by veterans' legacies of service, our alumni have taken up the torch to inspire others by their actions and deeds.
