Our sweet baby boy, Lucas, came into this world with a heart that needed a little extra help. Lucas was born with Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), a serious congenital heart defect where the heart’s major arteries are switched. From the very beginning, he showed us just how strong and resilient he could be. At only a few days old, Lucas underwent open-heart surgery and spent a full month in the hospital. There were difficult days, long nights, countless medications, monitors, doctors, nurses, and moments when we had to take everything one day—and sometimes one moment—at a time. Through it all, Lucas was our little warrior. ❤️ Watching our baby fight through something so incredibly difficult changed our family forever. We are beyond grateful for every doctor, nurse, therapist, and person who prayed for Lucas, supported our family, and helped get him to where he is today. And today, we get to say something we prayed so hard for: Lucas is home. ? He is growing, smiling, thriving, and showing us every day just how strong he is. While he still has a journey ahead of him, having him home with his family is a blessing we will never take for granted. We created this fundraiser not only to help our family as we continue navigating Lucas’s recovery and ongoing care, but also to raise awareness for Congenital Heart Disease. CHD affects babies and families in ways that many people may never see or understand. Behind every diagnosis is a child, a family, a hospital room, sleepless nights, overwhelming uncertainty, and so much hope. If Lucas’s story can help even one person learn more about CHD, recognize the strength of these little heart warriors, or remind another heart family that they aren’t alone, then sharing his story means even more to us. Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean so much to our family. If you aren’t able to donate, sharing Lucas’s story and helping us spread CHD awareness is just as meaningful.
