Elliot's Fundraising Page

Hey! I’m Elliot! Welcome to my fundraising page for The Real Housepets of the Saving Pets Challenge—where every dollar brings the drama down and the love up! My mom, Karen (Dr. Tips), is one the Shelter Veterinarians at Animal Friends Alliance, and I’m and I’m super stoked to help her reach her goal of raising $5,000 for Saving Pets Challenge!

My mom has worked for the Alliance for 9 years, helping so many cats and kittens, and dogs and puppies get the care they need before finding their people. She’s cared for countless animals like me through all kinds of runny noses and goopy eyes, wounds, tummy problems, heart problems, broken bones, and allergies. And she is really good at making sure we all feel safe and loved during our stay at the shelter.

My mom also works hard to make sure the pets in our community are vaccinated and signed up for spay/neuter surgery through the Healthy Pets Clinic and weekly Vaccine Clinics hosted by Animal Friends Alliance.

Karen loves animals so much that she somehow even finds time to foster shelter animals until they can find their new family, doting on us with lots of toys, sunny windows to nap in, and of course heaps of snuggles and cuddles from her and her kids. Right now she is fostering a Mom dog and 7 puppies, which has been so fun!

But all of this is only possible with support from people like you!

Keep reading to see some of how your donations and support have helped animals in need get a second chance at finding their special people.

Uno roadtrip and Dos & Tres's Happy Tail:

This bonded pair of senior cats was surrendered to Animal Friends Alliance because they didn’t get along with the new dog in the home. While at the Alliance, they each received a dental, senior bloodwork, and a fresh start. Karen’s nephew reached out when he heard about their story and knew he was supposed to be their new family. After finalizing the adoption, Dos and Tres traveled to Amarillo, Tx where they were picked up by their new dad and traveled the rest of the way to their new home in Austin. Dos and Tres were given a second chance to be in a loving home where they can spend their silver years being pampered and cherished.

Amarillo by Morning: Mila’s Happy Tail:

A shelter in New Mexico was looking to transfer a 1 year old mom dog and her 7 puppies to Animal Friends Alliance but did not have transportation for them to Colorado for another 2 weeks. They were also unsuccessful in finding a foster home willing to take a mom and 7 neonate pups. These puppies were only a month old and their mom was literally wasting away in their current situation. They needed to get out of the shelter environment or they would likely succumb to disease and perish.

Arrangements were made to meet Karen in Amarillo, Tx the morning after she brought Dos and Tres to her nephew and she would bring this sweet mom and her pups back to Colorado where she would foster them until they could be made available for adoption.

Mila and her pups were treated for giardia and coccidia, vaccinated, dewormed and fed a nutritious diet. Mila was treated for an infection and gained back most the weight she had lost during her time as a stray, lactating mom in New Mexico. She learned to trust humans again and made great progress with remembering how to be a puppy herself. After successfully weaning her pups, she was spayed and shortly after, she was adopted!

Mila is settling in to her new home and life as an adored member of her new family of 3 humans and 1 dog sister.
