Right now, our shelter is facing the largest feline panleukopenia outbreak in our history, with 108 cats and kittens confirmed positive.

Feline panleukopenia, also known as feline distemper, is one of the most devastating diseases a cat can face. It spreads quickly and can be fatal, especially for fragile kittens and unvaccinated cats. What begins as a silly, healthy kitten can become a fight for survival in just a matter of days.

Many shelters simply don't have the funding, staff, resources, or time to treat cats with this disease. Those limitations often leave them with impossible decisions. I am incredibly grateful to work for an organization that is committed to giving these cats a chance to recover.

I'm not a veterinarian. I'm not an experienced Animal Care Technician. There are moments during this outbreak when I feel like there's so little I can do. But I know one thing for certain: your support makes it possible for our team to keep fighting for these cats.
