CRIA Shave and Buzz (CS&B) is a new event that aims to bring the fun and impact of Shave and Buzz to Costa Rica. All proceeds of this event will go to fertilitty treatment for young adults with cancer. CS&B will be three days total (April 21-23), and each day will be a different wacky challenge. The days leading up to the events, (April 15-20) donations will be collected both in person and online. To donate online, use this page. To donate in person, find the CS&B donation table during snack and lunch break every day. You may donate whatever amount you can, however, in person donations will recieve different "rewards" based on how much they donated. These rewards include:

$5: Donor will get a caricature drawn of them

$10: Donor will get a shot of whipped cream

$20: A volunteer will recreate an APPROPRIATE tiktok of the donor's choosing

$30: Donor will get to be one of the people to wax the volunteers

$50: Donor will get to be one of the people to buzz the volunteers' hair off

Every donation will contribute to CRIA's donation tracker. Every time the tracker hits a different milestone, CRIA students will be "rewarded" with one of the three events. The milestones are:

$400: Volunteers will wax their arms or legs onstage!

$500: Volunteers will have a push-up competition, the losers will have to eat spicy hot sauces!

$600: Volunteers will buzz their heads onstage!

It is important to know that not every volunteer will take place in every challenge. All three of these events will happen during lunchtime, onstage.

When adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer patients who have completed treatment are asked their biggest concerns, the most common is: "Will I be able to have children?" It’s not the risk for cancer recurrence or disability and disfigurement - the desire to build a family is their highest priority.  In addition to the toxicity of cancer treatments themselves, chronic health conditions can occur in the aftermath of any cancer treatment protocol, and infertility is among the most common long-term complication.

So, it’s unfortunate that in the confusion and deluge of information during a new cancer diagnosis, including staging, testing, treatment and prognosis, the topic of fertility preservation can be set aside or forgotten.   AYA cancer patients report a lack of adequate information to make informed fertility decisions.  Meeting the unique fertility goals of every patient requires appropriate fertility counseling, as well as logistical and financial access to fertility care.

One of I’m Not Done Yet's mission is to provide the resources for AYA cancer patients to preserve their fertility.
