At Partners in Education (Partners), our mission is to empower students for the world ahead through business, school, and community collaboration. We encourage young students to pursue more than just job opportunities–we challenge them to also dream big and discover their #CareerGoals.
Internships are a critical step in helping students reach those #CareerGoals. They provide students with a firsthand look at a given pathway, a chance to apply classroom learning in the workplace, and better equip them to make important life decisions. However, for students with financial constraints, working a typical unpaid internship is not an option.
This is why, in 2009, Partners instituted the Paid Job Readiness Training & Student Internship Program. Through this program, high school youth are provided with an 8-week paid Job Readiness Training, and are matched with a Career Coach. Upon completion of training, students become eligible for an 80-hour paid internship aligned with their career interests. Students earn a $150 stipend for completing training, and go on to earn minimum wage for every hour on the job during an internship. Over the years, our program has significantly grown and we are committed to serving 150 students representing 12 different high schools across Santa Barbara county this year.
Today, we are asking you to help keep this important program funded and strong. All funds raised will help support training, coaching, and stipends for our student interns.
