I have been training Seido Karate at Thousand Waves for five years now, and just earned my black belt. These years have been so much more than just karate, though. I can't count the number of amazing things I've learned, and the support the community has given me is too amazing for words. They gave me life skills I didn't know I was lacking, and an environment that allowed me to explore those skills. I walk taller and with more confidence than I ever have before, and I owe it to them.
I'm not the only person to benefit from everything Thousand Waves has to give. They have an adapted program for kids with disabilities called ASK, or Adapted Seido Karate. The confidence I gained is also given to these kids. But don't take my word for it. Take a look for yourself:

They also run self-defense programs all over the city of Chicago, teaching teens and adults how to speak up for themselves and, if necessary, defend themselves. They are definitely worthy of your support. Thousand Waves has been empowering people for the past thirty years. Let's make it thirty more.
