Gratitude
I was young and naive when I took up Seido karate in 2003. I never considered what I was doing taking up a hard style martial art at the age of 49. I never considered how I would find ten hours a week to travel and train. And I never considered the possibility that this art and the Thousand Waves community would transform my life completely.
Now it's 13 years later. At the age of 62 (I know, I can hardly believe it myself!), I'm still training. Several times a week I put myself out there on the training floor, pushing myself to show up as expansively as I can, to face into my fears as courageously as I can, to open myself to the possibilities of living an open-hearted life grounded in the confidence I gain from my martial art.
I am so grateful for this art, this community, this practice, and my continuing good health - which is a direct result of my training. In gratitude for all I have gained through Seido karate, I am committing to raise $3100 (in honor of Thousand Waves' 31 years) and participating in 8 Spirit Challenge events from May 1 to May 7: sparring, board breaking, meditation, kata, performance, Soul Survivor Muscle Endurance Challenge, Bo Techniques, and Punch & Kick-a-Thon.
I invite you to express your appreciation for the riches in your life by supporting my Spirit Challenge efforts. All gifts are appreciated!
