My Thousand Waves Life
I am approaching my 20th year at Thousand Waves. During that time, I have and continue to train in Seido Karate, Kajukenbo, Violence Prevention and Self-Defense. I currently serve as an instructor in the Junior (5 to 7 year olds), Youth & Teen (8 through 17 year olds) and Adult Karate Program and as an instructor in the Adapted Seido Karate (ASK) program that we operate for the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. I have also served as a Violence Prevention and Self-Defense Instructor and continue to support that program by acting an "attacker" during the final workshop exercises--i.e., I let the participants kick and punch into pads that I hold for them. Finally, I have served on the Board of Directors and on various committees that make our organization run.
