Max's Spirit Challenge

My name is Maxwell Allard, and I've only been training at Thousand Waves since September, but these 8 months have been really powerful for me. I was 12 when I finally joined the school, but I had been hearing about Thousand Waves since I was about 6. It took me a long time to decide if it was the right thing for me, but from my first trial class, I knew I would like it. From the first moment, they made me feel so welcome, and they have always made me feel great as a person. The teachers really push me, but they are never discouraging. I had never participated in an organized physical activity before, and I feel so much stronger because of it. I have been working really hard these last eight months, and just recently I got my advanced blue belt.
 
Thousand Waves is much more than a karate school. They have many programs for the greater community. They provide self-defense, empowerment, stress reduction and violence prevention courses and workshops. They have a program that allows children with disabilities to train for free. And they have a scholarship program for people who would otherwise be unable to afford classes. Every spring, the school holds a fundraising campaign called the Spirit Challenge to help raise money for some of these programs. 
 
I will be participating in this week-long challenge, pushing myself physically, and I am asking you to push yourself a tiny bit financially. If you could donate anything (and no donation is too small!), it would help Thousand Waves be able to reach a greater community.  Thank you for reading this.
