Why indeed! On Sunday, March 1, 2026 I will participate in Polar Plunge® Chicago for Special Olympics Illinois presented by Special Children's Charities, one of the city's most popular winter fundraising events! In weather that will almost certainly be better suited to warmth and dryness, I, a person who very much does not enjoy being cold, will run screaming into the murky, frigid water of Lake Michigan to support thousands of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
