At 6288' Mt. Washington is the highest peak. Although not the tallest in the Eastern US, it has the most severe weather.

Mt. Washington currently hold the title of having the worlds worst weather being the meeting place of three major storm tracks.
The highest temperature recorded on the summit of Mt. Washington was 72 deg.F. in June of 2003.
The lowest temperature recorded on the summit of Mt. Washington was 47 deg. F below zero in January 29th, 1934.
Mt. Washington held the highest wind speed recorded for 60 years at 231 mph.
