I'm challenging myself this SENDtember, a month-long community fundraising campaign benefiting the Send It Foundation.
Send It provides free outdoor adventure programs for young adult cancer fighters and survivors (ages 21–40). Through activities like skiing, surfing, climbing, mountain biking, backpacking, and mindfulness retreats, participants find something that is often missing after a cancer diagnosis: connection with people who truly understand what they're going through.
The Send It Foundation aims to support the emotional and mental wellbeing that comes from community, confidence, challenge, and time spent in nature. Every program is fully funded so that finances are never a barrier to participation.
I was invited on my first Sent It trip in beautiful Lake Tahoe in the fall of 2015. I was lucky to be on their very first and pilot program 11 years ago. I have loved being a part of the Send It community the second I stepped foot into the presence of the Schou family and the rest of the Send It team. The sense of community that you so desperately need at likely one of the most mentally unstabling periods of life.
Every donation will have twice the impact thanks to a generous matching challenge. Every dollar donated will be matched dollar-for-dollar, helping even more young adults access these life-changing experiences.
Thank you for supporting my challenge and the mission of the Send It Foundation!
