Mission of Our Lady of the Angels distributes food to about 300 homebound seniors and people with disabilities each week. Many of these people truly rely on delivery as their main source of food. All people on delivery have very little to no source of regular income and struggle to obtain or maintain basic necessities such as bedding, kitchen supplies, adult diapers, fans, and mobility equipment, such as walkers. Frequently individuals on delivery also cannot afford to make basic repairs on appliances or furnaces/ AC systems; and, thus, will sometimes go months without a fridge or properly functioning heat. For many, food delivery is also their main source of communication with the world as many on delivery have been effectively forgotten by their families or have no family in Chicago.
We would be grateful for support this Lent to help our neighbors on delivery by providing some household items for them as seen on the Amazon wish list HERE or by donating to an appliance/ repair fund via the button above for these seniors.
