Welcome to my fund rasing page for the 2025 Heart and Sole Walk-a-Thon. Your donations will support the Capuchin Appalachian Mission(CAM) I will be participating in this summer. CAM is a nine-day service experience for a community of youth and adults.This is Capuchin Family Ministries' 32nd Mission to Appalachia, Harlan, KY, one of the poorest regions of the United States, where an astounding 42% of people live at or below the poverty line. CAM participants endure austere living/sleeping arrangements, simple meals, early wake-up times, long workdays, accomplishing physical and sometimes emotional work in our encounters, and solidarity with the marginalized. The Mission and our prayer, study, living in community, and service to the poor result in incredible personal and spiritual growth. Through CAM, we become more aware of the reality of the disadvantaged in our society and how we, as Christians, are called to respond.
CAMserves the community of Harlan through the following. I will be participating in the manual labor Ministry.
Outreach Ministry: Supplies local people in need with basic necessities, clothing, household, and school supplies.
Children’s Ministry: Harlan children and CAM teens alike have a blast through a Vacation Bible school that we provide free of charge.
Senior Ministry: We visit, socialize, and engage in recreational activities with senior citizens, alleviating feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Manual Labor: We build and repair substandard housing for those who do not have the financial means for home improvements. We provide the skills and labor, and donations help provide materials.
