WHO IS BETTINA? Bettina was a young, passionate woman full of life. From her early childhood she expressed a desire to help others which led her to find her true vocation in life as a nurse. Bettina devoted her life to caring for and she never ceased to care for those children who were suffering and in need.

WHY THE BETTINA CARROCCETTO MEMORIAL FUND FOR NURSING EXCELLENCE? The fund was established in her memory to provide scholarships to St. Joseph’s Hospitals nursing students. Since then, it has expanded to fund equipment that assists the nursing team in serving the critical population of the pediatric emergency department. For example, we were able to purchase a Vein Viewer, which is an instrument that helps the health care provider detect the location of veins when blood draws or IVs are needed and are difficult to find in children or infants, making it less traumatic for the patient. The fund was able to provide training kits for the Stop the Bleed and CPR for the Community Outreach program. These kits are being used to train life saving techniques to people throughout the community.
