Leadership Columbus - Class of 2019
Tackling Youth Homelessness
The 2019 Class of Leadership Columbus has chosen to work to end Youth Homelessness. As part of our mission we are working to both raise awareness of the issue, tackle significant issues facing homeless you and provide both human and financial support for organziations that are working each day to address the issue of Youth Homelessness.
One such organization is Huckleberry House. In 2017, more than 1,300 youth ages 14–24 were served in Columbus and Franklin County shelters, 532 of them were teenagers who found safety at Huck House's crisis shelter.
Huck House also ended the path to chronic homelessness for 76 young adults (18-22) who graduated from our Transitional Living Program, equipped with and education and/or employment and the life skills needed to live independently in permanent housing.
We encourage all current and Alumni of Leadership Columbus to assist us in our efforts by participating in Sleep Out 2019 or make a donation. Your donation will benefit the proven programs of Huck House. Every young person deserves a place to live and a chance to thrive.
