My brother Daniel is the reason for this cause.
Ever since we were little, Daniel and I have been close. In fact, he's my only sibling so we were all each other had growing up. The fact that my Dad passed away when I was young made it even more important for us to stay close. Daniel and I did everything together. I went to his sporting events and he went to mine as we cheered each other on through our childhood. In fact, he was even adopted onto my high school baseball team as an honorary Jr. Billiken and took batting practice after every game. My coach would toss him balls in the outfield and the players would cheer him on as he tried to knock one out of the park (and often times he did). After high school, I had the fortune to play a few years with the Kansas City Royals and needless to say, Daniel was my #1 fan!
As kids with Down Syndrome grow older the need for physical, social and emotional support grows even higher. This organization creates opportunities that otherwise might not be there and by supporting this cause we can create even more opportunities in the future.
This summer, my bond with the Pujols Foundation grew even stronger. I had the honor of hosting an 8 week fitness camp for the Pujols Foundation at my gym, Pursuit Fitness & Peformance. Over these 8 weeks I fell in love with the energy and the determination that these kids brought each day and I can honestly say that we made a difference in each one of their lives. This opportunity and many other opportunities like this one are all possible because of the Pujols Foundation.
The grand prize for the biggest fundraiser is to throw out a first pitch at a Cardinals game. And guess who;s going to throw that 1st pitch if we meet that goal...DANIEL!
Please help me support a great organization and make Daniel's dream come true!
