I know that with social distancing in place any other social cause has seemed to take somewhat of a temporary back burner. I know that there is so much on our minds that we not be thinking about sexual violence or intimate partner violence. Girls are not walking into bars remembering to watch their surroundings, have their phones and keys at the ready, and traveling with a friend to protect themselves from sexual assault. But that does not mean the social issue disappears with our access to bars. Sexual assault is in many environments and intimate partner violence is ever more prevalent now that everyone is isolated. 

The world has somewhat changed overnight, but that does not mean that with the new problems the old ones went away. I truly believe that Sojourner house does beautiful compassionate work to be a resource, safe-haven, and support for survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence. They know that this new "norm" requires them to address IPV in new ways and have been making moves to do just that. I also know that what they do requires fundraising and we are all human and like to donate when we get something even if it is simply an experience. We cannot home social fundraisers right now bottom line. So now is the time to stop ignoring online fundraising and recognizing just how powerful our attention to it can be.
