As some of you may know, I have been interning with the Sojourner House for the majority of my senior year at Roger Williams. Sojourner House and it's advocates have provided me with many wonderful oppurtunities to expand my knowledge and to show me what it means to be an advocate. Domestic violence is often a hidden problem, and Sojourner House is working to change that. I chose to intern with Sojourner House because they truly care about everyone that comes in and out of their programs. 

COVID-19 has had a major impact on all of us, but it is espically trying on victims of abuse and the organizations that are here to support them; 

• Victims living in the community with their abusers have less access to help and assistance
• Calls to 911 and our hotline have increased since this crisis started
• Victims living in our programs and who have escaped abusive situations are already feeling the financial impacts due to unemployment

For these reasons, Sojourner House has increased its services including more access to their hotline, Telehealth support groups, rental assistance, and help getting bassic neccisties like groceries and paper products.
