Our Story

For sixteen years, Urban Roots has planted seeds of change in Reno. We welcome everyone to the Urban Teaching Farm for hands-on learning in the garden. This year we’re debuting an exciting new way to explore food forests and how they can be implemented in northern Nevada. A new signage tour demonstrates how each area of your farm, garden, or neighborhood can be transformed into a flourishing food forest.

In 2022, inspired by the transformative power of regenerative agriculture, Urban Roots and Earth & Seeds partnered to bring Soil Palooza to life. Since then, Soil Palooza has budded and bloomed!

The fifth annual Soil Palooza is free to attend. Join us to learn about local food systems, build healthier soil, and share high desert gardening tips. The festival continues, featuring returning educators and vendors alongside new partnerships and friendly faces. Soil Palooza inspires the community to grow, to connect, and to get their hands in the soil.
