Former Housing Counselor, Bess Ervine, provides mortgage counseling services in programming that spanned 37 years - including the foreclosure crisis between 2008-2012. Mortgage counselors worked with over 7,000 homeowners across Western Washington at risk of losing their homes due to subprime and predatory loans.
Access is a key ingredient in Solid Ground's recipe for change.
Former Solid Ground AmeriCorps member, Elizabeth, supported the Magnuson Food Pantry helping to fight food insecurity for families in the Sand Point community. For families on the Sand Point Housing campus, the food pantry helps provide sustenance for an area that is widely understood to be a food desert.
In September, Solid Ground spoke with KOMO News about the coming tsunami of evictions and housing instability concerns that will mount once the eviction ban expires in January. Solid Ground's programming like Rapid Rehousing alongside widespread community partnership works to create agile, responsive systems for getting people housed in as short a time as possible, reducing the time they spend in crisis and traumatic experiences.
