About the Event

2020 reminded us that everything we need to heal and rebuild from loss exists in our community. Join us in celebrating the brilliance and resilience that our communities have shown over the last year, lighting the way forward through the darkest moments of the pandemic and poverty. Although we won’t be gathering in person for our annual fundraiser this year, we are thrilled to bring stories of light to your living room through an inspiring, fun, and virtual program!

This event is always free to attend – and now to watch online! The Golden Hour program will feature vignettes of community brilliance and a live interview with our new CEO Shalimar Gonzales, and we're thrilled that Michael (Wanz) Wansley will be joining us as one of our radiant hosts for the hour! There will also be fun, new ways for viewers to engage with us at home, including our Brilliance Box. We hope you'll register today and join us on March 25!

Despite the challenges of the last year, we have been inspired by the brilliance, passion, and compassion of our community. Your support fuels this shining light. We hope you'll support our work to solve poverty by making a meaningful gift, signing up as a virtual host, or sharing this page with your network. See you at the Golden Hour!

What is a Virtual Host?

As a Virtual Host, help virtually gather your friends to support Solid Ground! We'll provide you resources to engage your network by encouraging them to tune in to the event, fundraise to support community resilience, or share about our work! Interested in learning more? Please contact Gary Rubin, Giving Manager, at garyr@solid-ground.org.

What is a Brilliance Box?

As a thank you for fueling the light that shines within our communities, we'll send Brilliance Boxes to folks who support with gifts of over $250! These themed boxes will be packed full of refreshments, goodies, and event materials (available while supplies last for donations made before March 10)! Digital event materials will be available to everyone who registers.

Meet our Golden Hour Hosts!

Michael (Wanz) Wansley, Seattle vocalist and long-time supporter and cheerleader of Solid Ground's work, will join us to help usher you through the hour of community brilliance and resilience this year! Wanz became a household name in the summer of 2012 when his booming voice and indelible, flashy persona helped earn the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis track on which he's featured billions of spins. With every “Thrift Shop” popped tag and spent $20 bill, Wanz solidified his place as King of the Refrain. Some of Wanz's earliest memories include performing for classmates, church choirs, and talent shows while growing up in Lakewood, WA. And that creative, centralizing impulse hasn’t diminished, even after winning two Grammy Awards, singing in the Seattle Opera Chorus performance of Porgy & Bess, and performing the National Anthem to tens of thousands of fans prior to games for the Seahawks, Sounders FC, and the Mariners. Wanz is joining us LIVE to rally in support of meeting basic needs and nurturing success for over 70,000 families across the region.

Our very own Phoenica Zhang, Corporate Engagement Partner, has been with Solid Ground for five years, working to connect individuals and organizations who are passionate about equitable change to our work! Before that, she helped coordinate our Community Food Education programming. We are thrilled to have Phoenica return after hosting last year's Virtual Lunch-In event, to help illuminate all the ways our communities have come together this past year!
