Additional information for volunteers (what to bring, wear, etc.): The meet-up location is on private property. We have permission to meet there for the clean-up event only!
The access to the river requires a short walk from the parking area and a scramble down the riverbank (some poison ivy spotted, but can be avoided with care). The trash is on a sandbar in the Passumpsic, and depending on the water levels, will require a combination of wading and/or ferrying folks on canoes or kayaks a short distance across the river to access the sandbar. Life jackets are required. We will provide boats and paddles (although if you have a boat to use please let us know!).
A lot of the trash is tires, and we will provide tools for digging the tires out of the sandbar. We will also provide gloves, trash and recycling bags, and a free t-shirt! Please RSVP through this clean up page or directly with Emily Finnegan at emily.finnegan@vt.nacdnet.net or 802-424-3149!
