Just two days earlier, Sportable will celebrate its annual Tailgate, bringing together athletes, families, friends, and supporters of an organization that has played an enormous role in both of our lives.
The timing feels pretty perfect.
Sportable has given each of us so much as individuals — confidence, life skills, improved mobility, even pathways to college and Team USA. But as we get ready to become Mr. and Mrs. Largo, we also recognize that Sportable gave us something even bigger: each other.
Christian was just six years old when he first became involved with Sportable. Over the years, he tried every sport available. He is now a para-powerlifter competing for Team USA. Hannah found Sportable a few years later, at age 11, trying several adaptive sports before discovering the one she loved most: wheelchair basketball.
Our paths first crossed through the Sportable Spokes wheelchair basketball program. Hannah was 14 and playing her first season when Christian was playing his last before heading off to college. We became friends (think unenthusiastic big brother and hyper little sister) and stayed connected even as life took us in different directions and eventually to colleges in different states.

Years later, that friendship became something more. And on October 24, we’ll get to start our next chapter together as husband and wife.
Sportable gave us opportunities to compete, travel, make lifelong friends, become independent, and discover what we were capable of. Today, Sportable remains part of our lives, with Hannah now coaching the next generation as head coach of Sportable’s Prep wheelchair basketball team and Christian still enjoying Sportable's many programs, both as an athlete and as a volunteer.
As we count the days to our wedding, we want to acknowledge all that Sportable has given us and help create those same opportunities for others.
So, in honor of the start of our new chapter, we invite you to celebrate with us by making a gift to Sportable, to help more kids and adults with physical disabilities and visual impairments write their own stories.
Your gift can help the next six-year-old Christian or 11-year-old Hannah discover their new favorite sport, find a community, build confidence, travel and compete, and make friendships that last a lifetime.
And who knows? They might even meet the person they’ll marry.
Thank you for joining with us to celebrate this incredibly special time in our lives by supporting an organization that helped make our story possible.
With love and gratitude,
Christian & Hannah
Future Mr. & Mrs. Largo
