STEM Scouts - Denver

STEM Scouts Fundraising for Sports Breakfast 2020

Help STEM Scouts raise funds to bring engaging, hands-on and interesting STEM activities to students throughout the Denver Metro and Western Slope areas, especially in communities that wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to participate in fun STEM curriculum.

Using experiential activities and interaction with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) professionals, the goal of STEM Scouts is to help young people grow in character and skills as they explore their curiosity about STEM fields.

It is hoped that their growing knowledge will translate into the STEM-related careers that are so crucial to our country’s future economy. While the program focuses on future careers in STEM, it is ultimately designed to be challenging, thought-provoking and, most importantly, fun.

The Denver Area Council is proud to be entering its 6th year engaging students and Scouts throughout the Denver Metro and Western Slope areas. Despite COVID-19's spread, which forced all Labs to conclude in March, the 2019-2020 school year had great success with 11 Labs and 160 students throughout the region.

STEM Scouts forged a strong partnership with the Colorado School of Mines, which provided leadership and student volunteers that helped serve as Lab Leaders and spark the curiosity of our STEM Scout students.

To keep our goal of offering fun and engaging program with the highest level of safety for each member, Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has now re-engineered STEM Scout’s curriculum and supply kits. We have moved from a face-to-face delivery environment to one that allows for virtual and individual delivery.

This means that no matter if you choose to meet together or virtually (based on your state/local government’, as well as the local Council and schools’, COVID-19 requirements), all the supplies will be prepackaged into individual kits.  These supply kits for each module will continue to be shipped to the Lab Manager’s preferred address in the STEM Scouts’ portal.  The Lab Manager will then be responsible for the distribution of the supplies to each individual.

We thank you in advance for your support of STEM Scouts and our ability to work with our society's future leaders in all things-STEM.

Proceeds from the Sports Breakfast will support our Investment in Character fund. Scouting makes a difference for youth, families, and our community in many ways, and in these turbulent times, youth need Scouting more than ever, and Scouting needs you!
