I am participating in Steps2Cure NF to raise awareness and support for those affected by Neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form on nerves throughout the body. I walk for my niece, Leah Manth, who has been living with the challenges of NF2 for almost 10 years. Most recently Leah spent time in Boston for a tumor removal surgery that left her completely deaf at the age of 25. Through it all Leah and her service dog, Dasher, have met the challenges head on with strength, courage, and the resolve that NF will not stop them form living a fun, active, and adventerous life. Leah participates in several awareness and fundraising events each year, often acting as an advocate and inspiration for fellow NF patients. The money raised at the Steps 2Cure NF Walk will support the mission of NF Northeast, funding patient support programs, advocacy efforts, and cutting edge research. Monies will also provide hope and help to individuals and families impacted by NF. Every step I take brings us closer to better treatments, increased awareness, and a brighter future
