Seek the Peak 2021

Ethan Moorhouse

Single Day Presidential & Pemi Traverse

On July 17, 2021 (weather permitting), I will be attempting a single day Presidential and Pemi Traverse as a participant in the 21st annual Seek the Peak, in support of the legendary non-profit Mount Washington Observatory. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to support my traverse!

As a kid, I was always fascinated by weather and wanted to be a meteorologist, but never had the ability to persue that career path. The Mount Washington Observatory is special to me because it combines my love of both hiking and weather, specializing in high altitude and mountain meteorology. The work that the Mount Washington Observatory does is crucial to me and other hikers as they provide forecasts for hikers and other others, forecasts that no other group can predict.

With the support and generosity of many donors both big and small, the nonprofit Mount Washington Observatory has been able to observe and report on Mount Washington’s infamous conditions for nearly 90 years from their mountaintop weather station, maintaining one of North America's longest continuous climate records. The data they collect is utilized in forecasting models, weather reports, landmark climate research and a variety of educational outreach. Most recently, they helped a team of scientists do a trial run of remote weather stations that are now on the slopes of Mount Everest!

Please join me in supporting this legendary institution by making a donation towards my trek! All gifts are fully tax-deductible, and will help Mount Washington Observatory continue their important work in the Home of the World’s Worst Weather.

Your support would mean the world to me! To learn more about Mount Washington Observatory, please visit For more on Seek the Peak, the nation's premier hiking event, visit
