Team Blue Skies

Our dad was a healthy and active 63 year old loving husband, father (girl dad) and papa before losing his fight to this horrible disease.

He was married to the love of his life and best friend for 40 years. He had four daughters and three grandchildren, who he loved spending time with. He was the kind of man you could ask anything of and anyways count on.

Our dad was always the one to lift us up, bring a smile and laugh to our faces. To watch him suffer with this horrible disease was heartbreaking.

When he passed one of his skydiving family said “He would give the shirt off his back and do it with a smile.”

Our dad fought this disease with strength and courage.

We’re fundraising to help other families not have to go through the feelings of hopelessness, sadness and pain our family went through.

Please join our team or consider donating to our team; Blue Skies (in moving memory of Jim Stahl)

About Strides for CJD

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure. Through this event, anyone -- anywhere -- can pay tribute to their loved ones and raise funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Funds raised support our programs including:

  • Our 24/7 helpline, support groups, conference, and other family programs throughout the year.
  • Research grants to help scientists make important discoveries and bring us closer to a cure.
  • Medical education to help raise awareness and understanding of prion disease.
