My Personal Fundraising Page
Davey L. Kock died of CJD on September 25, 2012, four months after his first symptoms appeared and just 12 days after his diagnosis. He was a wonderful son, husband, dad, coach, cattleman, businessman, and friend. Since that time, his family and friends have raised well over $100,000 for research, awareness and support programs through the CJD Foundation and the National Prion Disease Pathological Surveillance Center.
We are working on another $10,000 research grant this year and are also participating in the Strides effort. Since our family became involved in the CJD Foundation in 2013, research has come so far, and the researchers are now working toward actual treatments which can help others avoid the experience which our family has endured. Just click "Donate Now" on the right part of this page and follow the instructions! You can make a donation here to receive a "Strides" t-shirt but watch for information on Facebook about adding a personalized "Davey L. Kock -- One in a Million" shirt to your wardrobe!
Friends and family members also have the option of donating in person at The Observer office in Westside or by sending your gift to P.O. Box 183, Westside, IA 51467.
Please donate now! Let's stop CJD in its tracks. THIS YEAR IS THE YEAR!!!

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure. Through this event, anyone -- anywhere -- can pay tribute to their loved ones and raise funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.
Funds raised support our programs including:
Our 24/7 helpline, support groups, conference, and other family programs throughout the year.
Research grants to help scientists make important discoveries and bring us closer to a cure.
Medical education to help raise awareness and understanding of prion disease.
