TEAM JEAN

On September 11, 2021, Jean Tierney Madden passed away from Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare progressive neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure.

Jean was a cherished wife, grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, friend, mentor and owner of many beloved animal creatures. 

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness and funds the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, that provides family support, medical education and research programs

The CJD Foundation was an incredible resource during our time of grief and they are doing incredible work to find a cure.    

Jean loved her family fiercely.  She wanted to live but accepted her circumstance with grace and lived every final moment as best she could to the fullest.

We miss her and humbly ask for any donation.  Please help find a cure for this devastating disease.

About Strides for CJD

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure. Through this event, anyone -- anywhere -- can pay tribute to their loved ones and raise funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Funds raised support our programs including:

  • Our 24/7 helpline, support groups, conference, and other family programs throughout the year.
  • Research grants to help scientists make important discoveries and bring us closer to a cure.
  • Medical education to help raise awareness and understanding of prion disease.
