If you never had the opportunity to meet Tiffany you missed out on knowing a caring and generous spirit.  Tiffany had a love for her husband Mark and son Eric and also loved caring for people especially children.  She enjoyed snowmobiling, handing with friends, camping and Gary Allan.  At the young age of 35 she died from unknown causes.  It wasn't until a couple of months after her death did we discover that she died from an extremely rare disease known as Sporadic Fatal Insomnia Disease (SFID).

SFID is a prion disease similar to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD).  Prion diseases are a group of rare, invariably fatal brain disorders.  Typical CJD symptoms include imbalance and incoordination, memory loss and impair thinking , and psychiatric symptoms such as anxiety or depression.  Once symptoms appear the disease typically progresses very quickly and is usually fatal within a few months of symptom onset.  The disease typicals affects people in the 60s and is rarely seen in people younger than 40.  Sporadic CJD is the most common prion disease accounting for approximately 85%.  Unfortunately, SFID is even rarer and unfortunately took the life of a vibrant wonderful young woman.

Please help work to find a cure or at the very least some form of treatment.  Any amount you can donate will greatly help in bringing awareness to this horrible disease that just seems to becoming more and more common.
