I am fundraising for this event in memory of my sweet Mom, Kathi Rutkowski. My Mom was a teacher's assistant in a pre-school for over 25 years. She loved spending time with her friends and family, watching soap operas and trash TV. We used to have breakfast diner dates, shopping trips and we spoke daily on the phone. She was one of my best friends. Suddenly in February of 2014 that all came crashing down. She started forgetting things, important things, and started pacing around the house opening things with no purpose. After seeing multiple doctors and having several tests she was diagnosed with CJD, something I never even heard of. Every day we watched her deteriorate more and more, losing the abilitiy to do simple daily functions, like take a shower, dress herself, feed herself, and speak. Some of her last words were, "I'm gonna be a Grandma," something she wanted more then anything. Unfortunately there is no treatment or cure and she passed away 5 weeks later on April 2nd at 63 years old and never got to meet her twin Grandchildren. This is a devestating disease and I am fundraising because I do not want any more families to have to go through what we have. We want to find treatment and ultimatley a cure.
