On April 6, 2005, at the young age of 46, my brother-in-law, Dave DeMaggio, was taken by Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure. My sister, Chris and Dave had three boys in high school at the time. It was a very trying and emotional time for all. Family, friends and community rallied around them with love and support. Now, the DeMaggio boys have grown into fine young men that we are very proud of and have found a way to honor their father by supporting the search for a cure and raising awareness of this crual disease.
