Recently, Mother-in-Law (soon to be), Maggie,  was diagnosed with CJD. What had seemed to be just a bit of anxiety and some forgetfulness soon turned into a full blown nightmare for Maggie and our family. 

Maggie had just started showing symptoms about a month or so ago, and now is in need of full, around the clock nursing care, both mind and body affected. It happens that fast, with a very poor prognosis, (90% of cases turn fatal within 6 months to a year after the diagnosis). It has been devastating to watch Maggie and her family go through this. She is one of the most kind and generous people I know..welcoming me into her family 6 years ago without hesitation, supporting and spoiling me ever since. She is an amazing mother and has so many friends and loved ones, all of us feeling the confusion, the hurt, the anger and the sadness that CJD leaves in it's wake.

CJD is mean and aggressive, and doesn't give anyone a chance. The ones diagnosed have no choice of treatment (because there isn't one) and the families have no time to digest and comprehend what is happening because it happens so fast. We need to do more research, we need more answers. The stride for CJD can help.
