CJD is not only a fatal disease for the patient but for their family and friends too. We've all lost a part of us forever. If we can help fund research that may find a way to alleviate this devastation for other victims and their families, then let's DO IT! Please donate NOW so we can make a difference. Jerry's Story

One day you're feeling normal; then the next day your brain is beginning to die.  Unfortunately that "next day" can take years with progressing cognitive decline.  You don't think much about it for awhile and just chalk it up to having a "senior moment" for forgetting a word or thing here or there.  Then it cascades into much more significant effects and you still don't know what's going on.  Who thinks to call a neurologist just because they're forgetting a few things or call their primary care doctor because they have a bad headache or brain fog for a few days?  Soon it's undeniable that something very serious is going on.  And then the big downward slide starts.  Let's stop this cruel disease or at least find a treatment.  Right now, there is nothing to treat it, stop it or prevent it.  It's a death sentence for every victim.  This is Jerry's story.

About Strides for CJD

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure. Through this event, anyone -- anywhere -- can pay tribute to their loved ones and raise funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Funds raised support our programs including:

  • Our 24/7 helpline, support groups, conference, and other family programs throughout the year.
  • Research grants to help scientists make important discoveries and bring us closer to a cure.
  • Medical education to help raise awareness and understanding of prion disease.
